Sunday Summer School Art–2021–“Jesus Sends Out His Apostles”–Week Nine

For Parents To Teach To Their Children

Jesus sends out his apostles to preach, to cast out demons, and to anoint the sick and cure them.

MagnifiKid! July 11, 2021, Page 7  gives us words in the Gospel that may be new to your children:

“Redemption means to be saved from sin.

Unclean spirits are devils.

To instruct means to teach.

A tunic was the robe or outer garment in that time.

Repentance means sorrow for one’s sins, a change of heart.

To anoint with oil was to rub holy oil on someone as a prayer for strength and healing.”

Jesus Sends Out His Apostles

Our Reading

The Gospel of Mark , Chapter 6:7-13

“Jesus summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two
and gave them authority over unclean spirits.
He instructed them to take nothing for the journey
but a walking stick—
no food, no sack, no money in their belts.
They were, however, to wear sandals
but not a second tunic.
He said to them,
‘Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave.
Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you,
leave there and shake the dust off your feet
in testimony against them.’
So they went off and preached repentance.
The Twelve drove out many demons,
and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.”
