Week Sixteen–Mercy

Blessing of the Children.*
“13
f Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked them,
14
g but Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
15
After he placed his hands on them, he went away.”

The Act of Penitence

Show us, O Lord, your mercy. / And grant us your salvation”

“May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life” (Priest’s concluding
prayer, nos. 4-6).

The Confiteor

“I confess to almighty God
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done
and in what I have failed to do,
through my fault,
through my fault,
through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God.”

The True Wisdom
“What eye has not seen, and ear has not heard,
and what has not entered the human heart,
what God has prepared for those who love him,
this God has revealed to us through the Spirit.”

We Practice First Reconciliation

“let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs” (Mt 19:14).

The children will practice saying the appropriate phrases for their first confession. We will be using a “child-friendly” version from Catholic Icing.com.
